A leak from Gamestop.com today revealed the release date for the next numbered installment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 6, will be released on November 20th of this year. The announced platforms so far are the PS3 and Xbox 360, with a later release planned for PC.
A press release by Capcom confirmed several new details about the game. Main characters Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy will be the two main playable characters, who will each have individual stories, and as of yet, not known partners to work with as they progress. Locations will be across the globe, including China, which has long been rumored as a setting for the game. A third story featuring Ada will also be playable. All three stories will be selectable from the start of the game. The game will also feature online co-op as seen in Resident Evil 5. The development will be handled by the Capcom team responsible for the development of Resident Evil 4 and 5, which the new title will be styled after.
Capcom also released a trailer for the game, which can be viewed in the video below.
