Dragon’s Dogma Release Announced with RE 6 Bonus

Published on January 31st, 2012 by in News

Remember that highly western looking hack and slash from Capcom last E3? It’s OK, no one else does either, but that is all about to change. Capcom today released a 3 minute long story trailer for the title which as you would expect doesn’t actually show gameplay.

Dragon’s Dogma is an action RPG with a loot system that plays not unlike a cross between something like Demon’s Souls and Phantasy Star Online. The difference here is that it features a completely ass backwards form of online play. Rather than actually provide co-op, you download AI versions of your character to play alongside with, similar to saved fighters in Virtua Fighter 4. The game was originally slated to come out at the end of March, right after Street Fighter X Tekken and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, but Capcom wised up and pushed it back to May 22.

So what about this Resident Evil 6 Bonus? Well those who purchase the game will get an online token that grants early access to a playable demo of the upcoming Resident Evil 6. After getting screwed on the roster for SFxT, Capcom decided to throw 360 owners a bone and they get the demo on July 3, while PS3 purchasers of Dragon’s Dogma will have to wait until September 4. This is probably a smart move as nobody would have given two shits about the game otherwise, now with some extra sales secured let’s hope the actual title is good and not a waste of time like its online component.
